Click on the Start menu at the lower-left of the screen. Before you know it you have a high quality recording o f your favorite vinyl! (I'm primarily using this player to sample records for making electronic music and sounds).Connect your ION USB turntable to a USB port on your computer, and power it on. Simply make sure the computer recognizes the device, hit record in Audacity, and play the record. Just download Audacity (free sound editing program). The built in speakers work well, although of course they have limited range (more highs than lows), but still good quality and somewhat of a full sound for small speakers.Īs for using this to convert vinyl to mp3 or WAV on the computer, it seems to work flawlessly. I bought an RCA (red&white) to Auxiliary (1/8th inch) adapter to plug the sound into my speakers through a regular headphone jack. There is no wall adapter included, but any USB wall plug seems to power it fine. This machine works great right out of the box! Cheap, easy to use and very decent quality for being so affordable. I recommend this turntable for anyone who is eager to import their vinyls. I cannot tell whether this is a defect in the turntable or if this is meant to be the case for a turntable of this price, but it's not a big deal because I can always increase the bass in Audacity. However, I do notice that the vinyl recording lacks bass. It is a little bit difficult to learn how to name separate tracks from the recording, and I wish I knew of an easier way to automatically label them, so I listen to the YouTube versio n of a song and compare it to the song in the recording to manually label the beginning of each track. The pops and crackles can be made less noticeable by applying a noise reduction effect. As the manual for the USB turntable recommends, I use Audacity to record and edit the recording for the vinyl. As expected, I do hear some pops and crackles when playing/recording the vinyl, but I don't mind them, since they make playback seem special and more authentic. Without it, I would have had to purchase all of these albums on iTunes or Amazon. This USB turntable is more than I could have asked for. Gets the job done well, but not excellentįor the past couple of weeks I have used this turntable to import all the vinyls that my dad had when he was younger.
